As an extension of their Winter festive collection, Bhumika Sharma’s Spring Summer collection of 2023 draws inspiration from classic silhouettes and features a refreshing palette of spring-summer colours like lime and mint greens. It utilizes traditional techniques such as Dabka and Tila work to add intricate details to the designs while boasting an array of pearl embellishments, signature organza tassels and metallic tassels for a modern twist.

Rooted in tradition yet fused with a modern spirit, Sejal Kamdar Designs’s collection, “Spectrum of Nature – A Luminous Oasis of Colours” is inspired by nature, which is full of colours where the transition of seasons change the entire mood of the surroundings. Known for their signature innovation with Ajrakh print, this collection has been created with refreshing silhouettes with detailed strip work of Ajrakh with heavy embellishments to celebrate diversity with a contemporary yet global outlook.

Mahima Mahajan’s collection depicts “Ruža” as a free-spirited and unabashed being who is unafraid to claim her space in the world and make her presence felt. With Ruža, the brand has passionately blended its past, present and future and instinctively ventured into the definition of their essence. The line also plays whole-heartedly on the core of the brand: extravagant volumes and silhouettes; the feminine fluidity colliding with structured silhouettes and the burst of colours like candy pink, sunset yellow and blush.

NEXA presents JJV.Kapurthala By JJ Valaya at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI.

JJV. Kapurthala By JJ Valaya’s collection perennially stands inspired by the unique travelogues of Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala, the land of JJ Valaya’s forefathers, the Ahluwalias. Long before the age of modern jetliners and social media, his travels in the United States, Argentina, Chile, Japan and the farthest corners of Siberia would create a sensation. JJV carefully sifts through never seen before photographs and extracts from his diaries to interpret the story of a ruler who wanted to bring the world to his people & indeed, take his people to the world. The showcase, therefore, borrows nuances from these travels and presents them as an experimental and premium line of creative interpretations.

FDCI Showcase Namrata Joshipura at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI.

Namrata Joshipura’s collection aims at celebrating the body in all its sinuous beauty and renewing its shine for the coming (r)evolution. It celebrates modern fabrics and sparkles that are the ‘wink and a nod’ to a post-modern disco elegance with a colour palette that comprises cerulean blues, forest greens and a saturated classic red. The ‘cd-rom’ print adds to the overall futuristic feel of the collection.

Abhishek Sharma, Ritika Mirchandani at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI.

Abhishek Sharma’s collection, “Coral reefs” takes inspiration from the mesmerising beauty of the coral reefs, as the colour palette emerges from the serenity of pearls, shells, fluid aqua, tones of corals and pink pearls. The varied techniques of draping, laser cutting, couching, and intense embellishments with pearls are distinctively employed to bring forward the mystery and beauty of the oceans. Intricate draping with the finest silk yarns creates an inexplicable texture illustrating the colonies of Coral Reefs.

Ritika Mirchandani’s collection, “Faire La Fete” is a celebration of sorts, of all things that represent life and growth. It pays homage to everything that brings joy and draws inspiration from the idea that strength comes only after a process of careful deconstruction. Structured shoulders contrasted with flowy capes; the collection is instilled with a wide range of designs. With hues like soft lavender and cheery green, in addition to the brand’s trademark ivory and blacks, Faire la Fete is a collection that symbolises the brand’s blossoming path with the mainstay emotion of celebration.

Anushree Reddy, Punit Balana at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI.

Anushree Reddy’s collection, “Ahilaya” walks down the aisle of history and takes inspiration from the beauty of Apsaras in the golden mythological age. In this collection, art meets couture using age-old and intricate Resham hand embroidery with Zardozi accents on luxurious fabrics like raw silk, katana and organza in a burst of colours.

Punit Balana’s showcase, “Utsav- A celebration of Rajasthan” highlights textures inspired by the Kalbelia community of Rajasthan, their folklore, literature and the culture that not only binds the Indian state of Rajasthan together, but one that also acts as a bridge between this state and Indian culture in the larger context of the term. The line brings to life an array of womenswear and menswear, with each piece encapsulating the idea of longevity.

Eshaa Amiin, Jajaabor, Shahin Mannan at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI.

Eshaa Amiin’s collection, “Lyricals of an escapist” explores how the emergence of fresh creativity can transcend and erode distinctions between real and virtual, ancient and futuristic worlds respectively. The collection is a melangé of fantasy, science and magic in the metaverse that incorporates luxe fabrics and bold colours with an addition of opulent embellishments and silky metallics.

Jajaabor’s collection narrates two aspects of Indonesia- One, Indonesia’s national motto “Bhinekka Tunggal Ika (Unity In Diversity) and two, the untouched marine biosphere of Nusa Tenggara. The showcase takes an effort to unfold these two stories using colours, textures and prints inspired from Indonesia- also known as the “Island of Gods”.

Shahin Mannan’s “Circle” is a collection that celebrates the infinite possibilities of fashion, inspired by the timeless and powerful symbol of the circle. The circle is a shape that has been used in art and design for centuries, representing wholeness, continuity, and infinity. In this fashion show, we explore the circle as a metaphor for the endless possibilities of fashion, with garments that embody the fluidity, versatility, and elegance of this symbol.
